Summer 25 is the Highest Grossing Summer Season in Jean’s Playhouse History!
This summer marked a milestone in Jean’s Playhouse history, as Jersey Boys and Grease together created the highest-grossing musical season the theatre has ever seen. What made this accomplishment even more remarkable is that the success came from just two shows in rotating repertory, compared to past summers when we staged four to six musicals. The streamlined model not only drew record-breaking crowds but also provided audiences with an exciting and accessible way to experience more theatre during their White Mountains visit.
Patrons repeatedly told us how much they loved the rotating repertory schedule. Many shared that it allowed them to see both musicals within a single vacation, while also enjoying a comedian or one of our IMPACT Touring Children’s Theatre performances. Some even extended their hotel stays specifically to catch “just one more show.” The new structure generated incredible momentum—audiences who came for one musical were inspired to return for the other, creating a ripple effect of enthusiasm and attendance.
Of course, the strength of the titles themselves played a major role. Jersey Boys tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, tracing their rise from humble beginnings to worldwide fame through iconic hits like “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Since its Tony Award-winning Broadway debut in 2005, it has become one of the most beloved jukebox musicals of all time. Grease, with its unforgettable high school romance, electrifying dance numbers, and hits like “Summer Nights” and “You’re the One That I Want,” remains one of the most popular musicals ever produced, adored by audiences across generations.
Together, these two classics anchored a season of extraordinary energy, word-of-mouth buzz, and record-breaking ticket sales. Running all summer long, each show benefited from sustained marketing, strong work of mouth, and the chance for visitors to build their trips around multiple performances. The result was a landmark summer for Jean’s Playhouse—proving that the repertory model, paired with the right shows, can create unforgettable experiences for audiences while fueling unprecedented success for the theatre.
