The Papermill Theatre Company — Mar 11-13 at the NETCs
Jean’s Playhouse casts its professional Papermill Theatre Company and IMPACT Children’s Theatre Company at the New England Theatre Conference each year. The Papermill Theatre Company produces 5-6 productions over 16 weeks each summer and fall. The IMPACT Children’s Theatre Company writes, composes and produces 8 one-act musicals over nine weeks each summer, and tours to eight different communities around the state each week.

NEW FOR 2017: Open Call Auditions at Jean’s Playhouse on Sat, Mar 18
Jean’s Playhouse will be holding an open call for NH-based theatre artists on March 18th.
Community theatre artists (both adults and children) are encouraged to audition for:
The Addams Family
Rehearsals begin June 26th (during the day) through July 12th. Show dates are July 13th – July 29th. Sundays are the company day off and Mondays are dark for shows.
Rehearsals begin July 14th (during the day) through August 2nd. Show dates are August 3rd through August 19th. Sundays are the company day off and Mondays are dark for shows.
Professional theatre artists are encouraged to audition for the entire season: Kimberly Akimbo, The Addams Family, Annie, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, and I and You.
All actors need to bring the following: a resume and headshot, a 1-2-minute monologue and 18-36 bars of music which will showcase your voice. We ask that your song/monologue not be from any of the above shows. Audition slots are 10 minutes with a group dance call.
Time slots for children will be from 9:30 – 12:00
Time slots for adults will be from 12:30 – 2:30

Playhouse Players — Mar 19, 3-5 pm & March 21, 6-8 pm
Auditions at Jean’s Playhouse for the spring community theatre play, The Art of Dining. Please prepare a monologue and be ready to read from the sides we will provide. Auditioners need only attend one of the two audition dates.
Cal and Ellen are the owners and sole staff of a small, elegant gourmet restaurant, where the diners act out their own private dramas over dinner.
Performances: May 19-21, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm
Jean’s Teens — Sep 5 & 6, 6-8 pm
Auditions at Jean’s Playhouse for the spring youth theatre play, TBA. Be prepared to read from the script and have fun! Auditioners need only attend one of the two audition dates.
Performances: Oct 27-29, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm
Stage Manager – April 3rd through May 21st: Needs to be at all rehearsals and performances. Will be in charge of running the show. In the event we are able to find an Assistant Director, there may be some wiggle room on pre-tech week rehearsals.
Props Manager(s) – April 3rd through May 21st: will need to locate a number of items used in the show (no big prop items need to be created), much of which may be found in our prop room. Prop tables will need to be created on either side of the stage. Availability for performances a plus, but not essential.
Set Designer/Builder – April 3rd through May 15th: We have a preliminary design in mind, but certainly open to other ideas. Set needs to be simple. Building and painting to be finished by the start of Tech. Week, May 15th. Possible volunteers available to assist with build and painting.
Technical Director – June 12th through October 14th The technical director is responsible for running the scene shop for our six show season. They need to be organized, be able to work with scene shop tools and move large set pieces with ease. Duties include but are not limited to: collaborating with the designer and director, read plans and order materials, create a calendar for implementing the show build in a timely manner, delegate duties and manage the time of the other shop employees, make sure the build is ready for tech, oversee strike and change over weekends, maintain and clean the shop and make sure safety is paramount at all times.
Assistant Carpenter – June 19th through October 14th The assistant carpenter reports to the TD. Duties include but are not limited to: carpentry work for building the sets for our six show season, maintenance and cleaning of the shop, strike for all shows and changeover weekends, running crew if necessary and other duties assigned by the TD. They will work hand in hand with the TD to implement the build in a timely manner. The AC should be able to work with all shop tools and be able to lift and move scenery.
Carpenter/Scenic Painter – June 19th through August 26th The carpenter/scenic painter is part of the team that will help build the set. They are then responsible for taking the designers paint elevations and painting and overseeing the painting of the set. Duties include but are not limited to: carpentry work, painting sets, maintenance and cleaning of the shop, strike for all shows and changeover weekends, running crew if necessary and other duties that may be assigned by the TD. They should also be able to work with all shop tools and be able to lift and move scenery.
Props Designer/Costume Overhire – June 19th through October 14th The props designer/costume overhire duties include but are not limited to: finding, building, pulling, creating and organizing all props for the six show season, prop running crew as necessary, costume help (hand and machine sewing, ironing, laundry, organizing) for the two large musicals of the season Addams Family and Annie. They must attend all strikes and change over weekends and participate fully.
Asst. Light/Sound Design – June 12th through August 19th The AL/S Design person is the third person of a three member team in the light/sound booth. They report directly to the L/S Designer and duties include but are not limited to: maintenance and repair of light and sound equipment, running of sound and light board, preparation of sound equipment before shows, sound checks, dimmer checks and other duties as assigned by L/S Designer. They are in the booth for every show throughout their contract.
The following position is for IMPACT, our professional children’s theatre company which tours throughout NH.
Costume Designer/construct for IMPACT– June 19th through August 12th The costume designer for IMPACT is responsible for creating and constructing all the costumes for the 8 shows of the IMPACT season. They must know have some design sensibility, know how to hand sew and run a machine, alter costumes and be creative. They must be able to work in a fast paced environment because they are creating new costumes for a new play and six member company every week.
