Announcing Auditions for a New Holiday Tradition in Lincoln – SCROOGE! The Musical

A Christmas Carol 2015Lincoln, New Hampshire – August 26, 2016 – Announcing Auditions for a New Holiday Tradition in Lincoln – SCROOGE! The Musical

Jean’s Playhouse is proud to announce A White Mountains, NH Community Arts Event: SCROOGE! The Musical, this December 2016. A powerful story of redemption, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has enchanted audiences the world over with its simple message of holiday joy. Ebenezer Scrooge, that most unrepentant and miserly of fellows, is made to see the light as he survives a merciless battery of revelations by the ghosts of his own life: Jacob Marley and the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. In SCROOGE! The Musical, the same cast of characters- Scrooge, Marley, the Cratchits, and more- will grace the stage, but now they will act, sing and dance their way into the hearts of the audience! By combining the core professional, community and youth theatre groups at the center of our mission, we anticipate that a company of professional, local and youth performers and designers will work side-by-side to produce this beloved tale with live musical accompaniment, lush costumes, cinematic projections, and theatrical lighting and effects over the first three weekends in December.

In a world where our media sells stories on fear and hate, emphasizing generosity, kindness, compassion and forgiveness is paramount. Our White Mountains community works diligently through multiple service organizations to demonstrate to our youth that we cherish these values. Jean’s Playhouse aims to develop passion and creativity in North Country, NH youth through our educational theatre program called Jean’s Teens, an after-school venture each spring and fall. Now we look forward to extending that program to include SCROOGE! The Musical this winter and invite a company of children to work alongside experienced professional performers and musicians, as well as participating community adults.

We invite you to join us for auditions on Sunday, September 25 or Monday, September 26 from 6-8 PM. Multiple roles are available for all ages and voice ranges. We ask that you please come prepared to do the following: read from the sides we will provide; sing 18-24 bars of a song (please bring your sheet music); and be dressed for and prepared to learn/perform a short dance segment.
